Description
More than a million people displaced by the brutal Tigray conflict remain in limbo even though the guns fell silent almost two years ago—many in makeshift camps. "By staying here, we are merely waiting for death," says Wolde Meressa, who lives in a shelter with his wife and children. Despite a peace accord signed to end the deadly conflict that claimed more than 600, 000 lives, continuing insecurity has stopped those who fled their homes from returning, even as aid organisations scale back their operations and essential aid is harder to come by, humanitarian workers say.
