Description
"There have not been many forest fires since the start of the season, with around 4,000 hectares burnt, compared with 12,000 at the same time last year," says Gerald Darmanin, the outgoing Interior Minister, as he travels to Frontignan, in the Herault department, where a wildfire ravaged at least 350 hectares. On the other hand, Christophe Bechu, minister for ecological transition, calls for "vigilance over the coming weeks," pointing out that "90% of fires originate from human activity.". SOUNDBITES
