Description
Algerians express mixed feelings about President Abdelmajid Tebboune's record ahead of the presidential election on 7 September. "My message to Tebboune is to do better than he has done in the past," says one Algerian, while another says he is "satisfied with what has been achieved in the country over the last five years".
Algerian President Tebboune, who starts as the clear favourite, is hoping to win a second term in office on the back of what he considers to be a successful economic record, but five years after the pro-democracy Hirak movement fizzled out, hopes of big change have faded, leaving some of the population feeling disillusioned.
