Standing next to her grandchildren, retired teacher Tesha Martinez looks out at the forest and mountains that form the skyline behind her pool. The 65-year-old shares her large house complex in Malinalco, a peaceful tourist town about 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Mexico City, with her husband and about 30 other seniors.
"We couldn't have done it on our own," Martinez says of her home, "everyone works together here, so we have a better quality of life at a lower cost." Her home is part of Mexico's first cohousing project aimed at improving the quality of life for older adults. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
