Description
In France's southeastern Ardeche region, it has not been possible to board a train for over 50 years, the only case of its kind in mainland France and which has been condemned by local residents and elected representatives, who are leading 'a battle' for the return of rail transport to the area. Pending a hypothetical reopening of the line in 2026, a steam-powered tourist train, a 'living museum', and old stations, both inhabited and abandoned, are reminders of what is now part of the region's heritage.
