In recent months, the Russian army's advance in the eastern Ukraine against struggling Kyiv troops has lengthened the list of ghost villages, too dangerous to be inhabited. Such is the fate of Myrnohrad, just a few kilometres from the front line. There are “very few people left”, mainly elderly residents, says Kirill Kozoriz, a 32-year-old resident who helps evacuate the last holdouts. At the thought of leaving his hometown, Kirill admits: "I’ll be honest with you, sometimes tears come. At night I even dream about it, more like this... Because I can't believe it."
