A large solar plant planned in Qatar will boost the Gulf emirate's renewable energy capacity by a further two gigawatts by 2030, announces Qatari Energy Minister Saad al-Kaabi. "By adding the Dukhan solar plant to those three plants, we will achieve our goal set in our sustainability strategy to achieve 4,000 megawatts of electricity from solar energy by 2030, and that will constitute 30 percent of the total production of energy of the state of Qatar," he says.
