Description
On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a lightning operation and seized control of the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, marking the start of intense months of protesting throughout Armenia. The foes have disputed the land for decades, with Armenians initially taking to the streets against the handling of the situation. Demonstrations further escalated following the governement's decision, led by PM Nikol Pashinyan, to concede lands to Azerbaijan - with unrest spreading into 2024.
The seperatist region of Nagorno-Karabakh was home to a majority of ethnic Armenian but is located within the internationally recognised border of Azerbaijan. A RECAP OF the anti-government protests in Armenia after the 2023 offensive in Nagorno-Karabakh
