Description
"We are in a narco-state," says Honduran street vendor Nelson Vasquez in the capital, Tegucigalpa. "You know that the one weapon the drug traffickers fear the most is extradition -- because US prisons are not the same as prisons here in Latin America," he adds, referring to President Xiomara Castro's surprise move a week earlier to end the extradition treaty with the United States.
Hondurans are reacting to the decision amid a diplomatic dispute with Washington, as the Central American country's opposition accuses Castro of ending the pact and inventing conspiracies to protect members of her government and family. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
