Description
Ireland and England football fans hurled insults and beer cups at each other as police intervened to make several arrests after England's 2-0 win over Ireland in Saturday's Nations League opener in Dublin.
As English fans exited the Aviva stadium in the Irish capital some chanted "Rule Brittania!" while Ireland fans chanted "the IRA" in response, referring to the Irish Republican Army paramilitary group. Irish police told AFP that a "low number of arrests" were made after the game without giving further details. The match was only England's second trip to Dublin in 29 years after a 1995 friendly between the teams was abandoned when visiting fans rioted at Lansdowne Road. IMAGES
