The Olympic and Paralympic Games cauldron is extinguished for the last time in the Tuileries Gardens. "It's a little sad, but now it's time to pass the baton on to the next generation," says Jean-Serge Malakhoff, a resident of the Paris region. Buoyed by the success of the Games, Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo has announced that she wants to keep the cauldron, and has written to President Emmanuel Macron to this effect, as the Tuileries Gardens are owned by the French state.
