While Palestinian children across the territories attend their first day of the school year, only a few of their Gazan counterparts are lucky enough to do the same. After her educational centre was destroyed in the war, Gazan teacher Israa Abu Mustafa set up a makeshift classroom tent amid the rubble and destruction of Khan Yunis. "Even though we're in a tent, and despite the bombing and the war, despite the constant displacement and the occupation's threats to evacuate the areas, we are determined to teach our children," she insists.
