Description
At the Arles Festival, guided tours of the photographic exhibitions are organised for people suffering from Alzheimer's disease. "We won't be able to cure them, but we said to ourselves, 'How can we act in society to fight for the well-being of Alzheimer's sufferers?'," explains Nathalie Martin, Managing Director of the Swiss Life Foundation, a partner in the initiative. "We said to ourselves that culture is a wonderful way to fight the disease. Mini-workshops are also organised to bring back memories and feelings for the participants. "It was a pleasure to rediscover things that I had experienced. For example, we've always used the train a lot," enthused Jean Bonelli, one of the beneficiaries of the initiative, after visiting an exhibition dedicated to the waggon bars.
