Toulouse University Hospital has a service, the only one of its kind in France, to receive and advise women going through the menopause. The drop in hormones produced by the body during the menopause can lead to an increased risk of osteoporosis (a fragile skeleton) and atherosclerosis (which can lead to angina pectoris and heart attacks). The director of this centre in Toulouse, Florence Tremollieres, receives patients from all over France who are looking for answers to their questions due to the lack of health professionals able to treat them in their region.
