Residents attend the wake of the environmental activist, Juan Lopez, 46, who was shot and killed as he left church in the northeastern town of Tocoa, Honduras. In 2021, when AFP met Juan Lopez, the activist working to oppose mining in Honduras explained that he left his home every day fearing he will never return. He also said he has been living in fear since he fought against mining in a mountainous area of crystal clear rivers and thick forests in northeastern Honduras. IMAGES
