UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer says he has "discussed the Albania arrangement" with Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni, as the two meet in Rome for talks on illegal immigration. In November 2023, Italy signed an agreement with Albania to open two centres in the Balkan country to house undocument migrants while their asylum claims are processed.
