Description
"I don't want to have children because the world doesn't need another human being," says 25-year-old Isidora Romero, who was sterilized. "There is overpopulation, there is a shortage of water, there is pollution," the Chilean adds to justify her decision.
Romero is one of many women in Chile for whom motherhood is not their "life project," a trend that has led the Latin American country to the lowest fertility rate in the Americas, an abrupt cultural change. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
