Description
Spiralling inflation on the French island of Martinique means people like Eveline struggle to get by. She pushes a half-empty shopping trolley through a crowded supermarket car park in the south of Fort-de-France. "We're being suffocated, strangled. We can't buy anything any more," says the 69-year-old pensioner. According to an INSEE study, food prices in Martinique in 2022 were 40% higher than in France. The Kiprix website, created by Robeen Simeon, is used to compare supermarket prices between the internet application Drive from a Leclerc store in Martinique and two Leclerc stores in Toulouse and Montpellier.
