"I haven’t been able to bring a package to my daughter," says Luisa Hernandez, as a campaign begins in El Salvador to secure prison visits. The 48-year-old housewife says that she hasn't been able to see her 24-year-old daughter Adriana for 20 months, since she was detained under the anti-gang "war" declared in March 2022 by President Nayib Bukele.
Around 200 people, including Hernandez, gather at Plaza Libertad in downtown San Salvador, where lawyers from the Movement of Victims of the Regime (Movir) are collecting documents to process the release of "innocent" individuals. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
