Description
The family of imprisoned British Egyptian political activist Alaa Abd el-Fattah, are calling on the UK government to ensure his release on September 29th after almost a decade in prison. His sisters, Sanaa and Mona, do not believe the Egyptian government will release their brother and his sentence will instead become indeterminate. The 42-year-old was sentenced to five years of imprisonment in December 2021 for spreading "false news undermining national security." During his detention, he was able to become a British citizen through his British-born mother. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
