Description
Staff from Reporters Without Borders (RSF) in Senegal’s capital Dakar join a global campaign from the Paris-based NGO that seeks to highlight the number of journalists killed in Gaza. “At the rate journalists are being killed in Gaza, there will soon be no one left to inform you” reads a large banner several staff hold by a Dakar roadside. “The situation for journalists in Gaza is catastrophic,” says Jeanne Lagarde of RSF. According to the NGO, more than 130 journalists have been killed in Gaza by Israeli strikes since October 7, 2023, the date of an unprecedented Hamas attack on Israeli soil that triggered the war in Gaza.
