Description
On the sidelines of Pope Francis' visit to Belgium, a delicate case still roils the country: that of the "forced adoptions" carried out by nuns between the 1950s and 80s. Lieve Soens was one of the victims. The now 50-year-old woman confides that she still feels "anger" towards the Church, and that she doesn't know "why we have not been heard".
A number of victims have asked for a meeting with the pontiff, who did not respond to their requests. "The Church still doesn't listen to us properly," says Debby Mattys, coordinator for the victims. "But we keep finding ways to talk to them, to work with them," she adds. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
