Bereaved family members break down in tears as a South Korean court found Park Hee-young, head of the Yongsan Ward office, not guilty for his part in the crush that killed more than 150 people on Halloween weekend on October 29, 2022.
The Seoul court stated that it was not Park’s responsibility to organise safety measures for unorganised events, it said in acquitting Park and three former ward officials.
In the meantime, the court handed a three year jail term to a former Seoul district police chief Lee Im-jae for failing to prevent the crush. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
