Description
"The ocean is also our sentinel for global warming": the rate of ocean warming has almost doubled since 2005 and more than a fifth of the world's ocean surface will have experienced a severe heat wave in 2023, says the European observatory Copernicus. "If we measure the ocean, we are measuring energy imbalances," stresses oceanographer Karina Von Schuckmann, who is also director of Copernicus’ 8th State of the Oceans report. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
