As the Norwegian Nobel Committee narrows down its 2024 Peace Prize laureate list amidst global conflict, some are questioning whether this year merits the prestigious award. "The world is getting into a more risky and more perilous situation day by day, and there needs to be a really clear call for action to turn things around," says Stockholm International Peace Research Institute director Dan Smith, adding "I wonder if the Nobel Peace Prize Committee, rather than congratulating people on their efforts, could be one way of making that call".
