Description
After casting his vote in the capital Maputo, opposition candidate Venancio Mondlane speaks of "electoral banditry", saying that this time citizens won't accept a result “in which corrupt people, thugs, rascals, who over 50 years have only disgraced this country.” The last presidential election in 2019, in which the ruling party Frelimo won with 73 percent of votes, was marred by irregularities. This time its candidate Daniel Chapo is widely considered to be the frontrunner, ahead of Mondlane who is popular among young voters. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
