Description
FILE IMAGES of the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize winners, the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN), as the Nobel Peace Prize 2024 was awarded to the Japanese anti-nuclear group Nihon Hidankyo.
In 2017, Beatrice Fihn, the then head of ICAN, was voicing alarm about severe nuclear threats. Hiroshima survivor Setsuko Thurlow was also interviewed by AFP the same year, saying "people must take responsibility" over nuclear weapons and "don't just leave it to the politicians". FILE IMAGES
