In Italy's Palermo, defence lawyer Giulia Bongiorno comments after a hearing in the trial against Matteo Salvini for blocking migrants from disembarking at one of the country's ports in 2019: "The problem was not about disembarking the migrants but bringing down Salvini." Last month, prosecutors requested a six-year prison sentence against the far-right deputy prime minister. "Open Arms had countless options to disembark the migrants and said no countless times.
