Description
"Freedom of the press is being increasingly repressed, so this is a new measure that is highly restrictive and dramatic for freedom of the press," says the Head of the South Asia office of Reporters Without Borders, Celia Mercier about the ban on images of living beings in Afghanistan. Since mid-October the Ministry for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (PVPV) has held meetings with journalists in one province after another to tell them a ban on taking and publishing images of living things -- namely people and animals -- from a recent law would be gradually implemented.
