Description
"These types of technology actually enable mass surveillance," says Katia Roux, technology advocacy officer at Amnesty International France, with regard to the algorithmic video surveillance system deployed for the Paris Olympics, which could remain in operation after the end of its trial period in March 2025. She fears that "facial recognition will one day arrive in France". For Wintics, the French company that won the bid for the Olympics, this technology is not to be confused with facial recognition, and the co-founder insists the aim is ‘to increase the level of security’, while protecting private data.
