Description
Residents of Guayaquil, Ecuador, react to the electricity crisis and the daily power cuts affecting the country. The Ecuadorian government has extended scheduled electricity rationing from eight to fourteen hours per day due to the worst drought the country has faced in six decades, as announced by the energy minister.
"With power going out for 14 hours, what can we do? It's costly for us, the poor, who only work day-to-day, and it's not enough," says restaurant owner Carmen Rosado. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
