Description
This year marks 100 years since Native Americans were granted US citizenship, and the first time they can cast an electronic ballot in the swing state of Nevada. Ahead of the presidential election, members of the Walker River Paiute Nation and the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony are fighting to increase poll participation and overcome the voting barriers that have historically plagued their communities. In 2020, the record Native American turnout contributed to elect US President Joe Biden, but Nevada's tribes now face a lack of enthusiasm for the candidates and political divisions among their 60,000 members of voting age.
