Description
"International organisations must take action, as striking archaeological sites means that world heritage is at risk," says a member of Baalbek festival committee as he stands at the site of Israeli strike near Baalbek ruins in eastern Lebanon. After nearly a year of cross-border fire with Hezbollah, Israel last month ramped up strikes on the group's strongholds and sent in ground forces across the border. The region of Baalbek, home to an ancient city by the same name, bore the brunt of the raids. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
