A kilometre below ground lies Germany's nuclear necropolis, a concrete-lined hall where the country's radioactive waste will be entombed. In recent years, Germany has closed its nuclear powers plants, but the remaining waste has kept concerns alive among the a deep-rooted anti-nuclear movement. "You can't build a nuclear waste storage facility today, 40 years later, based on the research from the 80s," says Ursula Schoenberger, an anti-nuclear activist.
