Description
Australian conservationist and TV personality Robert Irwin and one of the finalists for this year’s Earthshot Prize, Kazakhstan's Vera Voronova, visit a rehabilitation centre for African penguins in Cape Town. The species was recently classified as “critically endangered” by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) which compiles a “red list” of the world’s threatened species. “I think it's certainly a wake-up call, when an animal is placed on the endangered species list it makes us all realise just what a dire state we're in,” says Irwin, son of the late Steve Irwin.
