Sacked Israeli defence minister Yoav Gallant calls on the government to bring home the hostages in Gaza while they were "still alive" and insists that all Israelis of draft age must serve in the military. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu dismissed Gallant over a breakdown in trust during the Gaza war against Hamas. "We can bring back the hostages. It requires painful concessions, which the State of Israel can carry and the IDF can bear," Gallant says in a televised statement.
