Description
Sitting next to a gaping hole in his debris-strewn apartment, Moussa Zahran sits grieving his neighbours, displaced by fighting in southern Lebanon, who were killed the night before in an Israeli strike on the town of Barja, south of Beirut. "They fled death, but death was waiting for them here," he tells AFP. Lebanon's health ministry said at least 20 people were killed in the strike late Tuesday night. Nearby, Mahmoud, sitting on the patio of his damaged home, says "nowhere is safe... [Israel] wants to plant fear among the people, to say that you're not safe, no matter where you are."
