'I haven't fully recovered from it,' says Mgr Patrick Chauvet, former rector of Notre-Dame de Paris, just over five years after a fire ravaged the cathedral, which he witnessed firsthand. The priest, now parish priest of La Madeleine, says he 'didn't want to see' the restored building before it reopened so that he could 'open the present' at the ceremony on December 7.
