Description
People attend the 7th Colombian emerald auction organized by the company Fura Gems in Bogota, where 170,000 carats of this gem from the community of Coscuez in central Colombia are up for sale. The second part of the auction will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from November 21 to 25.
This comes one day after a rare 37-carat square emerald was sold at auction in Geneva for nearly nine million dollars, making it the world's most expensive green stone. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
