In Beaujeu, an hour from Lyon, several hundred tourists and locals gathered in the streets on Wednesday evening to taste the 2024 Beaujolais Nouveau as a barrel was tapped at exactly midnight during the traditional annual Sarmentelles festival, and after a year in which winegrowers had to make do with rainy weather.
