Rome is undergoing a major facelift for the pope's 2025 Jubilee celebrations, but just one month before kick-off, key monuments from the Trevi fountain to Piazza Navona remain under scaffolding. 33 million people are expected to visit during 2025 for the Jubilee, a year of pilgrimage declared by Pope Francis. One local resident, Tiziana Renzetti, lamented that there is "traffic at all hours, the works are at a standstill". A tourist, Clara Jay, told AFP that the city is "still very beautiful".
