Description
The centre left Social Democratic party's (SPD) federal executive board unanimously backs Olaf Scholz to lead it into Germany's snap elections in February. "We have in Olaf Scholz a chancellor who has steered us through difficult crises in this country, says Mars Klingbeil, a co-leader of the SPD. The decision is expected to be formally confirmed at a party congress on January 11.
