Greece's second city Thessaloniki will unveil its new subway system more than a decade late on Saturday after the project was dogged by archaeological challenges and financial difficulties. The 9.6-kilometre (six-mile) track both reflects -- and was bedevilled by -- the city's rich history, having been built along a historic Roman avenue that once crossed the 2,300-year-old city, named after Alexander the Great's half-sister Thessalonike of Macedon.
