Description
A line of colorful boots with messages and flowers symbolizing the victims of Colombia's "false positives," a scandal that shocked the country and was one of the deadliest episodes in the conflict between paramilitaries and guerrillas.
This symbol evokes the alleged responsibility of the Colombian army for more than 6,000 executions and forced disappearances of civilians between 2002 and 2008, in which the military would have put boots on the victims to pass them off as rebels, 1,934 of whose names are read at the memorial by the Special Jurisdiction for Peace.
