Description
"I walked about eight kilometres to get a bag of flour or bread," says a displaced Palestinian in the central Gaza city of Deir el-Balah. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees has stopped delivering aid through the key Kerem Shalom crossing between Israel and Gaza after it became "impossible", says UNRWA chief Philippe Lazzarini. According to UNRWA, only 65 aid trucks a day have been able to enter Gaza in the past month, compared with a pre-war average of 500. "We are dying of hunger and there are many thieves, cheats, injustice, hatred and theft. Why? Because there is no government, no control, no accountability," says another Gazan. The United Nations has warned that Gaza has descended into anarchy, with hunger soaring, looting rampant and the number of rapes in shelters rising as law and order breaks down. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
