Description
Forty years ago, Carmen Schuster left the Transylvanian village of Cincsor for West Germany in search of a better life. After returning to Romania for work years later, she was overcome by the urge to stay, attempting to save the centuries-old Saxon community she once called home and transforming its historical buildings into guesthouses. For Schuster, preserving the country's Saxon heritage symbolises a "belated victory" over the "inhumane and contemptuous" treatment during Nicolae Ceaucescu's communist rule which "aimed at erasing the legacy".
