Kenya could be without thousands of doctors next week after a major doctors union, the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) announced a planned strike over failed government promises on several issues including pay. The strike follows weeks of strikes from March to May this year over similar grievances but which ended in a agreement. "Seven months down the line, the government has implemented zero of our agreements," says Davji Atella, Secretary-General of the KMPDU at a pre-strike protest in Nairobi.
