Description
Mirna Cabral was brought to the United States from Mexico at age 5. She was married to a US citizen for 10 years until her husband died in 2023. When Donald Trump takes office on January 20, she runs the risk of deportation to Mexico and separation from her two US citizen children aged 10 and 12. Oscar Silva, who was born in Mexico and was a baby in his parents' arms when they waded across the Rio Grande into Texas more than 20 years ago, could also be separated from his wife after Trump returns to the presidency. "I've grown up here since I was a baby," says Silva, sitting in his Denton, Texas, home with his wife Natalie Taylor, who is a US citizen. "The American way is all I've known." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
