Description
Two decades since a deadly tsunamismashed into India's southern coast and swept away her daughter and home, Maragathavel Lakshmi still panics when she hears heavy rains or strong winds.
On December 26, 2004, her father had come to look after Yashoda from his house next door in Akkaraipettai, their village in Tamil Nadu state.
Hours later, Lakshmi heard a loud rumble and then saw enormous waves -- rising as high as 40 metres (130 feet) -- approaching her neighbourhood on the shore.
"She would have been 22 years old now," Lakshmi said tearfully, as she showed a picture of her daughter Yashoda.
