Description
Jackie Bennett recalls the shock she felt when she received out-of-the-blue an eviction notice giving her just two months to move out of her rented home in southeast England. "I'm living here and paying the rent every month, and then suddenly it's like I'm a disposable item that just has to disappear," says Jackie Bennett. The so-called no-fault eviction, which sees tenants kicked out of homes without landlords needing to provide specific reasons, is a feature of English law that could soon be abolished under new legislation known as the Renters' Rights Bill.
